Throughout the past year I have developed an inspiration towards working with man made materials to enhance my contemporary textiles. I am happiest when working through a development process and I’m always excited about where each project could go.
When working with textiles, I most enjoy immersing myself in all the possible techniques around me. I enjoy combining alternative materials with traditional fabrics and become inspired by the numerous outcomes it can produce. I am enthusiastic about continuing my skills in hand knitting but also look forward to delving into working on knitting machines to further my knit skills.
My favourite project was Cabinets of Curiosity where I developed a range of interior fabric samples which were inspired by my love for collecting stamps and coins which was a hobby for my Papa and myself. The close personal connection I had to this project resulted in me becoming more innovative with techniques such as working with beads and using these to embellish my samples.
